I'm working a Saturday shift at the Law Library Reference Desk and using the Internet for its intended purpose, wasting time, no, excuse me, making connections in a complex world. On my way in this morning I heard a piece on NPR about the new NPR librarian's blog ....As a Matter of Fact So of course, I went to have a look, and there, the most recently posted item came from Kee Malesky and referred to the fact that Weekend Edition Saturday host Scott Simon had mentioned the blog. Malesky was typing up the post as she listened. My head spinning from the interconnectedness of the whole experience, I sallied forth to look up Kee Malesky, who gets a lot of name time because she's always mentioned at the end of NPR news broadcasts. She turns out to lead a pretty exciting life as NPR's chief fact-checker and her NPR Profile cautions that while she gives guidance to on-air personnel about pronunciation, she is not to blame when they persist in saying "nook-you-ler."
Then, wandering back to ... As a Matter of Fact, I found this link to The Obama Tracker, created by the NPR librarians and their Digital Media colleagues, which links to all the Economic Policy, Foreign Policy and Domestic Policy initiatives of the new administration, with NPR news stories discussing each one. The perfect toy, er, tool, for an Obama-obsessed nation.
