The Information Overload Research Group held its first annual conference today in New York City. The group's stated goals are "to build awareness of the
world's greatest challenge to productivity, conduct research, help
define best practices, contribute to the creation of solutions, share
information and resources, offer guidance and facilitation, and help
make the business case for fighting information overload." Participants included staff of Intel, Morgan Stanley, and the RAND Corporation. Also attending, for both a presentation and a book-signing, was Maggie Jackson, author of Distracted : the Erosion of Attention and the Coming Dark Age. The group has a blog, so subscribe if you're interested, and keep up with their latest news (... or not, if you're already experiencing information overload!). Thanks to the Law Librarian Blog, where I first spotted this news item.
Great find, Mary Paige! And we have Maggie Jackson's book now so I'll have to take a look.
